- Who he/she is
Every person has a unique card. A system has a database where it lists all users’ credentials. Every time a person asks for access, his credentials are verified.
- What he/she knows (a code)
A system could also ask for a code to let someone in. a combination of a code and a card increases the security.

They are devices that keep the door locked. They unlock it for a determined period to an authorized person in and soon locks it back.

- Readers

It controls the door status. It lets the system know if the door or close.
