In one of my previous topics, I discussed about emergency plan, which is a set of procedures following unexpected emergency situation. In this article I am coming up with an evacuation plan. I took a picture in a construction site where I have been working during the last few weeks.
I am going to share it and walk you through the points it should include to make the evacuation easy and efficient.
What is an Evacuation plan for?
A disorganized evacuation can result in confusion, injury, and property damage. Thus, employers should come up with a plan that contain exit routes, locations of designated safe areas, and the specific steps to follow for each type of emergency. Its purpose is to ensure the safety of the building occupants, employees and visitors.
What points in there?
- Emergency exits.
- Main escape routes
- Secondary escape routes
This helps occupants to find easily exits. It is necessary to be aware of workplace premises exits.
- Extinguishers

- procedures and orders to follow in an emergency and evacuation incident.
- The assembly point.
It is a list of procedures and recommendations we need to follow in order to assure the efficiency of the evacuation. It is vital to avoid rushing to exits. everybody must be calm and follow the emergency team instructions.
