Home automation refers to any devices or appliances connected to each other. as a result we can control them individually or remotely via internet.

Generally, the main systems integrated in a home automation are HVAC. Security systems. lighting. outdoor sprinklers. Audio video. Motorized blinds and shades. Intercoms including Maintenance robots.

A home automation system must include a central panel where all devices are connected to (the system’s brain) and screen or keyboard of control and also smartphone. Whereas many devices could operate on timer, so they could turn on or off at predetermined times

How home automation works?

The home automation is a system that makes electronic devices communicate to control the utilities of a home through internet. As a matter of fact the system relies on sensors and actuators to work

• Sensors:

They are devices that inform the system on a particular situation or an event. Consequently that nactivates other devices or make any action to happen. For example sensors can be : Fire detector. Window/door contact sensor. Temperature sensor . Motion sensor. Smart thermostat.. etc.

• Actuators

They are the motors that control the mechanism of a home automation system. So it can modify the behavior or the state of a system. In fact it can be a light switch. Also the motor that opens or closes a door or a window. A thermostat …etc.

• The controllers

They are a computer, the keyboard or a smartphone. In fact we use them to communicate with the system. Then we send and receive messages from and to the system
